Audio logs from the cancelled Prey 2 have been released by digital games curator Andrew Borman, and they hint at where the original game’s protagonist Tommy would have ended up.

Zenimax Media, parent company of publisher Bethesda, bought the rights to the Prey series back in 2009. Human Head Studios were to develop the sequel with Radar Group, but that venture faced complications, and eventually Bethesda announced Prey 2 was officially not happening.

These released audio logs finally shine a little light on the game that would have been. It seems that Tommy from Prey would have worked side by side with Killian Samuels, the protagonist of Prey 2. ‘I'm not alone. There's another living human on this godforsaken rock,’ Samuels stated in the log. ‘To tell the truth, I thought I was having another breakdown at first. He walked right up to me on the street, right onto the sea of alien faces and just held out his hand. “I’m Tommy,” he said. Like it was the most natural thing in the world. Strange to hear real English again instead of the auto translator. I’d almost forgotten what it sounded like.’

And there’s an alternate version of this script that tells us more about how the two characters would have met. ‘We're not alone. After all this time I found another human being on Exodus, or rather, he found me. Says his name is Tommy. I don't know how the hell he got here. Says he's been travelling a long time and he's come here in search of the Sphere. I don't know where the hell this guy's been hiding.’

Arkane’s Prey shares only its name with the 2006 game, and so these logs are the only record of where Prey 2 would have taken its protagonists’ stories. Listen to the uncovered audio logs below.
