According to Xbox Scene, some units built and shipped after November 2006 now feature a BenQ VAD6038 DVD-ROM drive – rather than the Toshiba-Samsung and Hitachi-LG models previously used. Not only is the new drive reportedly “super-quiet” but it is rumoured to load content slightly faster and smoother.
Microsoft has yet to confirm if all the new Xbox 360s being built feature the BenQ drive as standard.
