Positive reception for Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy ‘could lead to other things’

Week one Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy sales have shown that there’s a market out there for the 90s PlayStation mascot — a market that Activision may be looking into, if Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg’s comments to GI.biz are anything to go by.

‘We are experimenting with Crash,’ Hirshberg said when speaking about the red-furred Bandicoot. ‘We know that there’s a vocal fanbase that wanted that to comeback. But you never know if that is emblematic of a larger audience or just this niche, nostalgia-based community. So far, we are seeing some real passion for it, so that could lead to other things’. 

What exactly this could mean is uncertain: is Crash going to make a comeback, or is Activision merely hedging its bets before delving into its IP vault to pluck out one Spyro the Dragon, perhaps? No one quite knows, but it sounds like Activision might be entertaining the idea of more Crash, at some stage in the future.

Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy was released on PlayStation 4 on June 30, with an Xbox One version rumoured to be out later this year.
