Pokémon Sword & Shield director Shigeru Ohmori released a video message with a tour of a Galar town, as part of Nintendo’s Gamescom programme.

Although Game Freak isn’t at Gamescom this year as it is hard at work refining the new Pokémon game, the walkabout of the town showed off some of the features that players can expect in a few months time.

The Pokémon Research Centre looks like a Tudor-style house that’s probably worth a lot, especially if it’s inside the Galarian version of the M25. Here, Professor Magnolia studies the Dynamax phenomenon, the mysterious effect that causes Pokémon to become huge and receive battling boosts.

In addition to the Corviknight taxi service, players can visit places throughout the Galar region on the train, and the stations even have the green entry or red exit barriers we’re used to here in the UK. Whether the region is being shafted by the HS2 was not mentioned.

Pokémon Centres are easily recognisable, but feature a cute, quaint, cottage character to them. And, there are supermarkets with fresh groceries and boutiques to visit while stocking up for the journey ahead, and to check out the latest trends. Ohmori added that there are beautiful natural environments for players to wander through in Galar, but I’m still fixated on the noise Wooloo make. Doh doh doh.

Pokémon Sword & Shield will release on November 15 for the Nintendo Switch. Watch the town tour below.
