The original games in the Pokemon series – Pokemon Red, Blue and Yellow – are all coming to Nintendo 3DS on February 27, 2016, Nintendo has announced.
Available to download via the Nintendo eShop, all three Virtual Console games will feature the original Game Boy versions’ graphics and sound, along with the option to battle and trade Pokemon wirelessly using the Nintendo 3DS’s Wi-Fi.
Pokemon Red and Blue first launched on Game Boy back in 1996, with Yellow following up two years later in 1998. Yellow was designed as an enhanced version of the original games, offering up Pikachu as the only starter Pokemon available and who followed the player around the game world.
A price for the Virtual Console versions has yet to be confirmed.
