If you also thought that this year’s State of Play was underwhelming, with a few exceptions, then you’re going to be in luck. A well-regarded PlayStation insider, Shinobi, has said that there are “maybe” more games coming in 2025 that haven’t been revealed yet.
There was a smattering of good stuff in the presentation; Ghost of Yotei, Astro Bot DLC, LEGO Fortnite split-screen. There were also a few underwhelming reveals, most of which weren’t even PlayStation exclusives, as Xbox rightly pointed out.
It’s very possible that Sony has kept behind a few new reveals for a later date next year – Bloodborne 2, maybe? As if.

Death Stranding 2 is one of the games we’re expecting next year. While it didn’t star at State of Play, we know that Kojima is planning a big show at Tokyo Game Show on September 29th. Before the PS5 Pro had been announced, the expectation was that Death Stranding 2 would be the console’s key launch title. That is now highly unlikely, as it seems as though the next PS5 console is just going to launch with enhanced titles instead.
Marathon also gets spoken about – Bungie’s extraction shooter – and that’s expected next year too. Those are the ones we don’t need to speculate too much about, but it’s the unspoken about games that have us more interested.
It’s not a game, but an expansion for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is very much needed. The ending rightly sets up the opportunity for new content, though we’ve not heard much from either Insomniac or PlayStation since.
There was no mention of Resident Evil 9, a game that’s apparently in need of a 90+ critic score by Capcom who are “gunning really hard to make this great,” according to AestheticGamer1. With that in mind, the studio is likely happy to let development take its course to perfect things. Capcom has enjoyed plenty of success over the last few years. As one of the only studios to not be hemorrhaging money on (too much) live-service slop and the like. If it can direct enough talent into Resi 9, it’s going to be good. Even better if it comes out next year.
