According to an Official Xbox Magazine preview of Guitar Hero 6, the latest instalment in the hit franchise will ditch playable celebrity characters, instead allowing players to recruit real life legends and unlock their alter egos – Metallica’s Lars Ulrich becomes Warrior Lars.

The magazine also reveals the game will support previously released DLC, while the new set list will feature a much bigger focus on rock ‘n’ roll. Queen, Kiss and Black Sabbath are confirmed, and Gene Simmons will narrate the new Quest mode.

The game’s scheduled for release in the autumn and we can expect to see a lot more at E3 next month.
