During the weekend of December 5-6, Activision is encouraging British gamers to go online and play Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 on Xbox LIVE to help raise money for a good cause.

As part of the GAME for Good campaign, Activision has teamed up with its long-standing charity War Child along with Microsoft and retailer GAME.

The more people who participate, the higher the donation amount that will be paid. GAME has also produced a limited edition set of War Child / GAME for Good / Modern Warfare 2 co-branded wrist-bands and will also be donating the proceeds to charity.

The GAME for Good campaign is open to all British Gamers who take part in Multiplayer or Special Ops gameplay modes on Xbox LIVE during the course of Saturday, December 5 and Sunday, December 6.

“The money raised from ‘Game For Good’ will directly enable War Child to help thousands of children in the world’s worst conflict affected countries to rebuild their lives – reconstructing schools destroyed by war, reintegrating child soldiers with their families and getting children off the streets after war has forced them to leave home,” commented Ben Knowles, Music & Entertainment Director, War Child. “We have a long relationship with Activision, and this partnership and the huge reach of Modern Warfare 2 is a unique opportunity for us to engage a new audience with these vital issues. War Child believes that war should never be prosecuted on children: War should have an 18 Certificate.”
