Piracy rates of “93 to 95 per cent” which Ubisoft boss Yves Guillemot suggested the publisher suffered on its PC titles does not paint an entirely accurate picture of the publisher’s piracy woes, director for online games Stephanie Perotti explained to Rock Paper Shotgun.

“With regard to the numbers, the numbers are coming from both internal and external research. Research showed that it can reach that rate for some specific or popular PC games, and that number often varies depending on the territory,” explained Perotti.

“So we are not saying that it applies to all PC games for all territories, and we’re not saying that the same situation would apply for any game.”

In the same interview Perotti confirmed the publisher had abandoned its always-on DRM policy.
