Reports of Pioneer's death have been greatly exaggerated, apparently. According to a new report on Kotaku, the space exploration title teased in Watch Dogs 2 has now been rebooted, rather than scrapped.

The site claims that the title is now in development as a multiplayer co-op shooter, and utilises the Anvil engine, the same tech that powers Rainbow Six. It will, however, still implement a couple of features from the original incarnation of the game.

'Old Pioneer is dead,' a source told Kotaku. 'Pioneer’s half-undead brother is here.'

It was believed Pioneer had been cancelled outright earlier this month, after former creative director Alex Hutchinson seemingly confirmed as much on Twitter.
