Pikmin 3 is the first officially announced Wii U game from Nintendo, having premiered at the start of Nintendo’s E3 conference.

Off the bat the game looks a lot better than what we’ve seen before from Nintendo, with high resolution visuals, higher quality models, improved animation and some lovely depth of field effects.

A number of control schemes can be used. Choose to play with the Wii Remote and Nunchuk, or with the Wii U GamePad, which displays a map and quick navigation using the touch screen.

A new rock Pikmin was also shown, and players will be able to control up to four leaders. Replays can also be viewed.

No release date was announced.
