Nintendo has today confirmed that Pikmin 2 and Donkey Kong Jungle Beat are the next games in line to be updated for the Wii as part of the New Play Control series – GameCube titles re-released on Wii with updated controls and features.

Following the release of the original Pikmin and Mario Power Tennis is Pikmin 2. Captain Olimar has been joined by his assistant Louie to hunt for treasure on the planet of Pikmin. The sequel features additional species of Pikmin, randomly generated dungeons and a two-player battle mode.

The game has also been updated to support the Wii Remote, making it easy to direct and command Olimar, Louie and their army of Pikmin. Pikmin 2is scheduled for release across Europe on April 24.

In the summer Wii gamers can look forward to the release of Donkey Kong Jungle Beat. The game was originally designed to be played with a Bongo controller, but in the updated Wii version the movements of Donkey Kong are controlled through the motion-sensing capabilities of the Wii Remote and Nunchuck.

Players must help Donkey Kong swing and pounce his way through the jungle in this unusual platform game. The goal isn’t just to get to the end of the level, but to gather as many banana points as possible.

The Wii version has also been extended with two brand new stages, new enemies, new bonuses and new weapons.
