If you’ve pre-ordered a physical copy of Hitman, you will not receive access to this week’s beta, IO Interactive has confirmed.
Instead, beta keys will only be guaranteed to those who pre-order a digital copy of the ‘Full Experience’ or ‘Intro Pack’ via PSN or PC, or pre-order the Collector’s Edition from the Square Enix Store.
“If you’ve pre-ordered a digital version of the game, yes, [you will receive access to the beta]”, a message on the game’s website reads. “If you’ve pre-ordered the physical disc version that we’re releasing later in 2016, no. Please check with your retailer before pre-ordering.”
Hitman’s beta is due to begin this Friday, February 12 on PS4, before rolling out on PC next Friday, February 19. It is not scheduled to arrive on Xbox One. The beta will give players access to the game’s Prologue mission, set 20 years prior to the events of the main game, containing “two free-form training hits”.
“You’ll be able to replay each hit as many times as you wish throughout the beta period to complete the challenges and the multiple ways to take down your target – as you would expect,” IO says.
The Prologue mission and Paris will both be included at launch when Hitman releases digitally on PS4, Xbox One and PC on March 11, with additional levels set to roll out in the months later. A physical disc release will follow later in the year.
