Persona 5 Royal, the beloved game is coming to other platforms than its original home, the PlayStation. This article will reveal what to expect with this highly anticipated port to other platforms.

What is Persona 5 Royal?

Persona 5 Royal is a turn-based, dungeon crawling, life sim JRPG developed by ATLUS, a Japanese game company. Persona 5 is the 5th installment of their franchise that was originally spawned as a spin-off game series from their other popular series Shin Megami Tensei. For a while, the persona franchise was stuck under their shadow until Persona 5 came out without the label of Shin Megami Tensei to join it.

Persona 5 Royal is an extended version of the original game Persona 5 which came to PS3 and PS4 worldwide audiences in April 2017. When Persona 5 Royal came to worldwide audiences in March 2020 it provided engaging new content that made this already over 100-hour title even longer and better.

The story of Persona 5 Royal follows Joker, a transfer student who comes to Tokyo for a year on probation. During his stay, he discovers the metaverse, a world that exists within the cognition of the general public where he enters palaces which are the physical manifestation of the individual’s twisted desires and cognition. With his newly found friends, he helps these twisted individuals pay for their crimes against the world.

This game has extra content in this game includes, including new activities, new areas to explore, and two new characters, Goro Akechi has a confidant the player can engage in and what is known as the third semester. The third semester can add up to 30 hours of extra gameplay as it has a brand new palace and extra story. The third semester happens after the point where the original game would have ended, it gives you more opportunities to work on confidants that you didn’t have time to work on up till that point and work on your social stats. Goro Akechi’s new confidant gives you a deeper look into who he actually is as a character, it is a great improvement as in the original game, it was automatic, meaning it only increased during story beats. The new characters give you more options of how you want to spend your time and may even determine if you reach the third semester or not. Not only are the new activities fun but also can benefit you in the long run.

Persona 5 Release Date & Platforms

Persona 5 Royal will be released on Xbox, PC, and Nintendo Switch on the 21st of October 2022. This is wonderful for the franchise. Since Persona 4 Golden was released to PC a couple of years ago, this was well overdue. Persona 5 has been one of the most popular of the entire franchise and it being more accessible means that it is going to bring more people to play the game and enjoy it just like those who are able to play it on PlayStation. Its release specifically to Nintendo Switch means that you can play this game wherever and whenever you want while PC and Xbox give those players the option to play it. It is going to bring more fans to the game and have more people play this iconic franchise.

What Persona 5 Royal’s Release Means for the Rest of the Franchise

With the announcement of Persona 5 Royal coming to PC, Xbox and Nintendo Switch came other news that made the Persona fans happy. The announcement came with the news that Persona 4 Golden (which is already on PC from a couple of years ago) and Persona 3 Portable will also come to PC, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch at a later date. This means that the three most popular games in the franchise will be accessible to more and more people. Although there is a bit of controversy over the choice to pick Persona 3 Portable instead of Persona 3 FES, it is still a wonderful opportunity as Persona 3 isn’t as accessible as it used to be.

Persona 5 Royal’s release is good for both fans and potential fans. Original fans of the game can now play it on other platforms and it gives those who haven’t had the opportunity to play it the chance to play this game. It could also open the door to them becoming fans and playing the other games as well whenever they release.
