It’s over now, but last weekend PopCap dropped the price of Peggle on iPhone to only $1, which in turn saw sales of the acclaimed casual game soar.
So popular was the game that it claimed the No.1 position in the App Store chart, selling nearly as many units in four days as it managed in the three weeks following its launch. According to PopCap this price drop proved that the App Store heavily favours cheaper games, and doesn’t do enough to help promote the more expensive, higher quality games available.
With Peggle’s price now back to normal it will be interesting to see how long the game can remain high in the App Store chart.
