According to Kotaku, to access the online play in Fight Night Round 3 on the PSP gamers will have the option of stumping up $2 or handing over their details to ESPN so they can be sent junk mail. The terms and conditions for the agreement in which the gamer will enter are as follows:
“By clicking Accept, I agree to ESPN’s sponsorship. I understand that if I am at least 18, ESPN will contact me with offers and promotions and I am authorizing EA to share my EA account membership information with ESPN in the United States. ESPN’s use of my account information is subject to the ESPN Privacy Policy, which I have read and I accept.“
At this time it would be premature to think this will become the norm for online play on the PSP, and perhaps EA has merely seen it as an opportunity to capitalise on the high profile game. How the European version is to be affected is currently unknown.
