Forever Entertainment is teaming up with Sega to remake classic Saturn games Panzer Dragoon and Panzer Dragoon II: Zwei.

The first Panzer Dragoon remake is currently pencilled in for release by the end of 2019, although platforms have not been confirmed at this point (via Gematsu). However, the official blurb is that the remake will sport ‘several modifications’ that will make it more appealing to modern audiences, as well as obvious improvements in the visual department.

Panzer Dragoon was a pretty big thing back in the 90s, and was one of the main reasons to own a Sega Saturn. The original game launched in 1995 and was followed  by a sequel a year later, although the franchise has been on hiatus since 2002’s Panzer Dragoon Orta on Xbox.

Sadly it seems like the best of the bunch – 1998’s Panzer Dragoon Saga,  which turned the series into a traditional RPG – isn’t getting the remake treatment.

It’s actually a rare collector’s item nowadays, and is regarded as one of the best games of all time, not to mention the highest-rated Saturn game.
