It’s been an entire week since Palworld gutted its gliding on Pals feature due to Nintendo’s ongoing lawsuit with the Pokemon-like game, and modders have already brought the feature back from the dead.

Glider Restoration, a mod for the game’s PC version by Primarinabee, brings back the cut functionality “for those who love flying with your Pals”. Available right here on Nexus Mods, the quick and easy mod almost makes you forget about Nintendo’s some-would-say egregious lawsuit.

Palworld mod revives gliding

Released just days after the feature’s removal, thanks Eurogamer, the mod is not a perfect re-implementation of the cut gliding feature. However, it’s as good as we’re going to get now that the lawsuit has removed the awesome gameplay feature.

“This mod uses sleight of hand to reverse the sleight-of-hand “removal” of gliding pals,” the modder wrote on Nexus. “You still need a glider in your inventory, and it’s not QUITE perfect, but it basically reverses Patch 0.5.5 without requiring you to forego future game updates.”

To install the mod, players simply have to follow these very simple steps:

  • Drop the Pak file in Palworld/Pal/Content/Paks
  • Do not remove the _P in the filename
  • For gamepass users, use the same process with the 3 files (Utoc, Ucas, Pak)

Unfortunately, it seems that Gliding on Pals will be unavailable for console users on Xbox and PlayStation. Nintendo is currently going after gameplay mechanics that it feels are too similar to Pokemon, or make use of patented mechanics, such as throwing Pal Spheres to catch Pals. Of course, this is despite the fact that Pokemon clones have existed for many years now, and Palworld is far from the first.

Nevertheless, Palworld developer PocketPair continues to march forward with brand-new updates still in the works alongside collaborations, such as the upcoming Terraria collab. The best way of crushing your haters is to simply succeed.
