We previously reported that with the launch of Overwatch 2 Season 5, Antarctica: Peninsula and Paríaso were removed from map rotation after a game-breaking bug was found, where if a Mercy player broke out of spawn too many times on these maps it could lead to players framerate dropping into single frames. What exacerbated this even more was if Mercy then died the framerate of every player’s game would drop even further until the game was downright unplayable. However, the removal of these maps may not be the end of Overwatch 2 players’ woes.
While the latest bug plaguing Overwatch 2 doesn’t downright tank players framerates it does give an unfair advantage to Junkrat players. One player has discovered a bug on the map Oasis which allows Junkrat players to propel themselves outside the map’s boundaries to give them a birds-eye view of the entire playable area, while on top of the game’s invisible ceiling. While the move itself would be difficult enough for most players to pull off, some players are worried about the potential this exploit could present with more traditional aerial DPS characters such as Pharah.
We’ll have to wait and see how effective this strategy really is for players as many have questioned the reliability of utilizing this bug. Players noted that the user could easily just make themselves an open target for the enemy team. We might possibly see this technique be used at the beginning of a game to catch enemy players off guard and provide a small advantage early on, but realistically it may not be the best spot to be after the initial attack.
Needless to say, we’ll have to wait and see how Blizzard addresses this. In other Overwatch 2 news, Overwatch 2 fans beg for a simple Brigitte UI change that would fix everything.
