The arrival of the most recent chapter, however, has revealed in detail how the in-game ranks work. If you want to find out how OW 2’s ranking process operate, then we’ve got you covered.

Here’s all that you need to know about this FPS title’s competitive tier system.

How do Overwatch 2 Season 2 Ranks work?

Overwatch 2 lets players rank up by playing through two competitive modes, which are Role Queue and Open Queue. The former enables you to choose between three roles, namely Tank, DPS, and Support, before finding a game. On the other hand, the latter immediately starts finding a match and roles are decided before it starts.

Before you can start playing this mode, however, you’ll have to win 50 Quick Play games first. However, this only pertains to new players because this condition no longer applies to owners of the first Overwatch entry.

Based on a graphic provided through the game, each player will have their ranks reset at the beginning of each season. You’ll only be placed in a specific Skill Tier once you’ve reached either seven wins or 20 losses. These are the same parameters that you’ll need to meet before you can be promoted or demoted through each division.

All Ranks in Overwatch 2 Season 2

There are five division per Skill Tier in the game with five being the lowest all the way up to one. These ranks include the following:

  • Bronze 5 to 1
  • Silver 5 to 1
  • Gold 5 to 1
  • Platinum 5 to 1
  • Diamond 5 to 1
  • Master 5 to 1
  • Grandmaster 5 to 1

If you’re currently in Silver 1, you’ll need to win seven games to be promoted to Gold 5. Conversely, losing 20 matches will demote you to Silver 2 instead. Additionally, if you stop playing for a certain period of time your skill tier will eventually decay.

How do Ranked Rewards work in Overwatch 2 Season 2?

Each Competitive match that you play in the game rewards you with a specific amount of points depending on the result. Each win will give you 15 competitive points, while a tie provides five points instead. Once you collect 3,000 Comp. Points, you’ll be able to purchase a golden weapon for your preferred Operator as well as titles to place on your name card.

Ending the season at a particular Skill Tier will also provide you with a fixed amount of Points. Here’s the amount you’ll get at each rank:
