Blizzard’s hero shooter Overwatch 2 has kicked off its latest seasonal event, with the Pachimarchi event starting from today.

Players have a limited time to enjoy the event, which includes bespoke challenges, unique cosmetics such as the Pachimari Roadhog Epic skin and a brand new game mode by the name of Catch-A-Mari.

Let’s break down the brand new game mode, which is live from now until April 4.

Overwatch 2 PachiMarchi event new game mode -what is Catch-A-Mari?

Catch-A-Mari is Overwatch 2’s take on a Kill Confirmed mode (or, in this case, Elimination Confirmed). The match type sees two teams made up of three heroes on each team take on each other in a team deathmatch.

However, the twist here is that whenever someone is eliminated, they leave behind a cute Pachimari toy. In order for the elimination to count for your team, you must pick up the toy afterwards.

If the opposing team gets the toy first, the elimination is denied and no point is awarded. So you’ll have to work together with your teammates to ensure the opposing side doesn’t steal away your points.

Overwatch 2 PachiMarchi Catch-A-Mari event – what maps are included in the mode?

Catch-A-Mari is mainly played on Arena maps, due to its nature. Specifically, the ones included for this event are:

  • Blizzard World
  • Kanesaka
  • Downtown Busan
  • Hanamura

In fact, Hanamura has been given a special Pachimari makeover to celebrate the event, hosted by number one fan Roadhog.

The Overwatch 2 PachiMarchi event began on March 21 and will run until April 4 in the game, which is free to play on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC.
