Overwatch 2 director Aaron Keller has revealed that the next hero that’s set to be introduced to the game’s roster in Season 6 will be another Support. Apparently, this decision was made in order to correct the gap between each hero type as the Tank and Damage roles all contain more characters than the underrated Support class.

This latest revelation from Keller comes after the introduction of Lifeweaver to the game as part of Season 4. Since he’s still a fairly new addition, a large number of players are still continuously learning about how to play Lifeweaver. Based on early fan reactions, though, it seems that Lifeweaver’s abilities and lore certainly make him stand out from some of the other characters in the game.

But even with the introduction of the very first Thai character to Overwatch 2, the selection of Support heroes within remains relatively sparse and this is Blizzard’s way of bringing in a more diverse set of heroes for those that prefer aiding their teammates. However, this doesn’t mean that the developers plan on ignoring the other roles as Keller has stated that they’ll “be shooting to release roughly two Supports to every one Damage and Tank hero.”

Aside from the revelation of a new Support hero in Season 6, Keller also mentioned that a new game mode called Starwatch will be included in Season 4. This match type will allow you to take the role of a Watcher or an agent of the Infinite Empire. Although specific game mechanics are yet to be provided, he has disclosed that it “takes a page out of Junkenstein’s book, in that it tells a story outside of the Overwatch universe.”

Last but certainly not least, the Overwatch 2 director also announced that Pride would be coming to Overwatch this year. How Blizzard plan on commemorating it remains unclear at this time, but Keller has stated that they’ll be sharing how they celebrate the game’s first Pride before June. They will also apparently be “sharing the values” that drive their team every day to bring their game’s vision to life.
