Overkill’s The Walking Dead video game has still yet to claw its way out of the ground like a freshly-reanimated corpse, but a few new details have emerged within the pages of the latest issue of Official PlayStation Magazine UK this week.
Chiefly, the studio confirmed it is planning to support the upcoming zombie survival title with post-launch downloadable content as per the needs of the community. What it won’t probably do, however, is include Rick Grimes and other iconic characters from Robert Kirkman’s massively successful comic book (and presumably the TV show) juggernaut.
‘So, our plan…is we will launch the game and then we will keep adding content for the game as soon as the community requests stuff, and we expect them to be very demanding,’ commented Overkill’s Director of Global Development, Saul Gascon.
It’s worth pointing out that the team has not completely ruled out any comic/TV characters from appearing in the game, suggesting they could be added later down the line in a new update. For now though, it is clear Overkill wants to continue to evolve its own take on the undead apocalypse after release.
Overkill’s The Walking Dead will be shambling onto PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One in 2018. Just don’t expect Rick and his gravely tones to be uttering Caaarrrrrllll in the mix anytime soon.
