7,000 Wii U consoles have been stolen after robbers successfully staged a heist at Seattle’s SeaTac airport, the King County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed.
The goods are said to be split evenly between the Wii U Basic and Wii U Deluxe models, equating to approximately $2.28 million in value.
The heist saw 64 pallets of Wii Us loaded into two semi trucks using a forklift, reports ABC News.
“I’ve been a cop for 28 years, and I’ve never seen anything like this,” said Sgt. Cindy West. “This has come straight out of the movies.”
“If we don’t get any tips ahead of time, it will be the selling of these consoles that will lead to their capture,” said West. “It’s gonna be pretty hard to hide 7000 Wii game consoles.”
Wii U doesn’t appear to be the hot property some expected it to be so these crooks may find it tricky to shift all 7,000 units at a good price.
