Eigo Kasahara, who worked as the planning director on the original Shenmue game on Dreamcast, recently told IGN Japan during Tokyo Game Show that he's not happy with the current state of Shenmue I & II.

'There were just way too many issues,' he said on the abundance of bugs the recent re-release has been plagued with. 'As a developer on the original games, the last thing I wanted for the re-release [of Shenmue I & II] is for them to be worse than the originals.'

Kasahara didn't hold back when talking about his discussions with developer D3T: 'I’ve been putting up a fight with the overseas studio that developed it, insisting that they fix everything. If they tell me they can’t fix something, I tell them to fix it anyway.'

Doesn't seem like the most harmonious of relationships, does it?

The port has been riddled with bugs since launch, so here's hoping that it's in a nicer condition sooner rather than later. Although, not at the extent of people's health; there have been enough stories on that side of games development, lately. Let's look after our developers, eh?

Shenmue I & II is available now on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
