Speaking to Bandai Namco community manager Dalton Link at E3, Level-5 CEO Hino Akihiro confirmed that Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom will have online multiplayer. (via Gematsu).

Ni No Kuni 2 will also see the protagonist travel to five different kingdoms throughout the game, each of which have problems that must be solved by the player. And while Akihiro didn’t confirm the return of any specific characters from the first game, he did say that there will be some familiar faces in Revenant Kingdom.

He added that playing the original game will enhance your experience via easter eggs that give a nod and a wink to Oliver’s story, but it’s not imperative to play Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch first.

When asked about the possibility of multiplayer, Ikihiro said,’You will be able to play online with your friends in various capacities.’

We don’t know what those ‘various capacities’ are, but seeing as Wrath of the White Witch didn’t have any form of multiplayer, this is sure to at least intrigue fans of the series.

Ni No Kuni II: Revenant is out on PC and PlayStation 4 on November 10, 2017.
