For the week ending November 24, Nintendo of America has sold more Nintendo products than at any other time in its history. Over the seven day period 653,000 units of the Nintendo DS and 350,000 units of the Wii were sold, totalling more than one million units.

The sales of Nintendo DS set a new all-time sales record for Thanksgiving week, moving more units than the Game Boy Advance back in 2005 (600,000). The Wii wasn’t to be outdone though, recording its strongest sales week in its history excluding launch.

“As shoppers look for ways to maximize their limited holiday spending money, they turn to gifts that can be used by the entire family,” says George Harrison, Nintendo of America’s senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications. “Wii and Nintendo DS offer something for every member of the family. They’re the most fun video game experiences at the most affordable price.”

These North American sales figures follow a record week of sales in the UK, where the DS sold 191,000 units.
