Square Enix has announced that Odin Sphere will be released across Europe and other PAL territories on March 14 2008, exclusively for the PlayStation 2.

Vanillaware’s visually stunning 2D action RPG is inspired by the renaissance of hand-drawn artwork and is set in a fantasy world in which five individual tales combine to tell an epic story of power, loss and love.

The country of Valentine is obliterated by the power of an ancient artefact and sparks a war between the fairies of Ringford and the warriors of Ragnanival. Unknown to them they are acting out a forgotten prophecy that will lead to the destruction of the entire world. Players will take control of the warrior princess Gwendolyn, daughter of Odin, and must uncover the truth behind the prophecy and prevent it from being fulfilled.

The PAL release will include a 60Hz display mode and an optimised 50Hz mode, plus fully localised in-game text into English, French, German, Spanish and Italian. There’s also the option to hear the new English or the original Japanese vocal track.
