A PlayStation 3 version of Oddworld: Munch’s Oddysee and a PlayStation Vita version of Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath are due to hit PlayStation Store just in time for Christmas, Oddworld Inhabitants has announced.

Oddworld: Munch’s Oddysee HD hits PS3 in Europe next Wednesday, December 19. You’ll be able to download it from PlayStation Store for £7.99.

The game, which first released as a launch title for the original Xbox, features unlockable concept art and an “improved” control system for PlayStation 3, alongside new audio and art assets created specifically for the HD update.

A North American release date is still to be confirmed.

Meanwhile, an HD version of Xbox action-shooter Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath will be available to download for PlayStation Vita on the same day, with a North American release hitting a day before on Tuesday, December 18. It’ll cost £9.99/$14.99.

It’s been suggested that the Vita version uses the same HD assets as the recent PC and PS3 versions, along with new rear touch pad and touchscreen controls specific to the console.

“Continuing our campaign to update the classic Oddworld titles, we are excited to give new and old fans on Playstation the chance to play Munch and Stranger,” said Stewart Gilray, CEO of the games’ developer Just Add Water.

Alongside Stranger and Munch, Just Add Water is also developing an updated version of original Oddworld title, Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee.

Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee New N’ Tasty is due for release on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC and PlayStation Vita next autumn.
