Oddworld Inhabitants has revealed that its crowdfunding campaign for Oddworld: Abe’s Origins has been a massive success, eclipsing its £45,000 target goal in just 48 hours.

Abe’s Origins was teased in a cryptic video last week, although at the time it was believed that its developer was gearing up for a proper reveal of the next instalment in the series, Oddworld: Soulstorm. Instead, we’ve got a package featuring a physical release of Abe’s Oddysee and Abe’s Exoddus for PC, complete with a host of recently-unearthed material that depicts — you’ve guessed it — the origins of the franchise.

‘Oddworld: Abe’s Origins is a wonderful opportunity to give a more detailed view into the deep Oddworld story. The team at Indie By Design bring passion and quality to their work and I’m psyched that they’re going to bring a new, beautiful and richly detailed book to our fans,’ said Oddworld Inhabitants boss, Lorne Lanning.

Presumably we’ll hear more on Oddworld: Soulstorm soon enough, but for now anyone interested in revisiting the older titles in the action-adventure series would do well to check out Abe’s Origins. Watch a trailer below.
