A last gasp push to secure a newly introduced $4 million stretch goal for Obsidian’s Project Eternity fell just short on Kickstarter, but funding from PayPal means the final target was met.

The Kickstarter for the old-school RPG closed overnight at $3,986,139, painfully close to the $4 million goal. However, to everyone’s relief, Obsidian Tweeted this morning to confirm that the $4 million goal was met when taking into account PayPal contributions.

“We sure did. :)” the studio Tweeted.

This means the game will be enhanced using the all money donated in excess of $3.5 million.

“We will use live instrumentation for the soundtrack, add developer in-game commentary, and use every dollar between $3.5m and $4m to enhance the game,” explains Obsidian. “Also at $4.0m Chris Avellone will be forced to play Arcanum.”
