PlayStation 4 was the best-selling console in the US during the frantic holiday-buying month of November, reports the NPD Group.
Sony hasn’t revealed exactly how many PS4 units it sold during the month, but we do know that the console sold over one million units in its first 24 hours in North America.
Meanwhile, Microsoft has confirmed that Xbox One sold 909,132 units in November following its November 22 launch, equating to 101,000 units per day. This per-day figure allowed Major Nelson to state the Xbox One “was the fastest selling console in NA last month”.
Xbox 360 sold 647,000 units.
Elsewhere the 3DS family sold nearly 770,000 units, pushing its life to date past 10 million to almost 10.5 million units. Wii U hardware increased by more than 340 per cent compared to October, which means the system sold an estimated 220,000 units.
Call of Duty: Ghosts was the top-selling game of the month, ahead of Battlefield 4, Assassin’s Creed 4, Madden NFL 25 and GTA 5.
Nintendo also says that Super Mario 3D World sold more than 215,000 units when combining retail and digital. Pokémon X and Pokémon Y each sold more than 225,000 combined digital and physical units in their second month, while The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds sold 280,000 combined units, or 405,000 when including hardware bundles.
