THQ have revealed that their long-awaited S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Shadow of Chernobyl will not be released in May, as they had previously said. Instead the game is to have its development time “extended” – a nice way of saying the game has been delayed again.

No new release date was given, but Oleg Yavorsky, the PR manager of the game’s developers GSC Game World, had this to say: “We’re pleased that THQ granted us more development time. S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl is an extensive game which will set new standards in the genre. We want to make sure that we publish the game only then if it fulfills the high expectations, which we ourselves and the fans have set, and no sooner.”

We seem to be fast approaching Duke Nukem Forever levels of delay here. As always though, more as we get it.
