The heavily reported and highly anticipated Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 reveal expected this week during GDC won’t be happening after all.

The internet went crazy last week when a countdown website, Findmakarov.com, and related dogtags were sent to That Videogame Blog, with the evidence pointing to a reveal of some kind this week.

However, after a firm denial from Activision, which called the entire thing a hoax, Geoff Keighley of GTTV went digging and discovered that Findmakarov.com was the creation of We Can Pretend, an independent Toronto-based creative collective which plans to launch a movie project inspired by Call of Duty on March 2.

It looks like we’ll be waiting a little longer – presumably E3 – to discover the identity of this year’s Call of Duty game.
