No Man’s Sky players must be careful to avoid an alleged game-breaking bug which appears to be resolved only through wiping your game save and starting again.
The issue is related to the game’s pre-order bonus ship, which handily includes a Hyperdrive, something of a necessity if you wish to travel to new star systems. However, some players are reporting that accessing the bonus ship can lead to an important tutorial being skipped, meaning players never obtain the Hyperdrive blueprint.
So what? You might ask, I’ve already got a ship with a Hyperdrive. The problem arises if you later trade your ship for a different model, only to lean this new ship doesn’t have a Hyperdrive, and with no blueprint you are unable to install one.
Reports indicate that lacking a Hyperdrive blueprint also seems to bug the game meaning no ships you come across have the drive installed. With no ability to go back and access the skipped tutorial and obtain the Hyperdrive blueprint you’ll be stranded, unable to travel to new star systems.
For now players should ensure they don’t access their pre-order ship until they complete an early tutorial and obtain the Hyperdrive blueprint. If you’ve already run into the issue then your options are to start over again, or hope Hello Games patches in a fix.
Hello Games hasn’t issued a statement on the bug at this time.
