Nintendo’s Wii Virtual Console, a service which enables internet enabled Wii users to purchase games from video game consoles of yesteryear, appears to have so far been a success. According to Shinji Hatano, licensing director for Nintendo (reported by IGN), the service has generated sales of $33 million.
The figure sounds impressive, but Nintendo themselves are less certain, Hatano commenting: “We’re currently unsure if this is a lot or low. They’re not bad figures.”
The European Wii Virtual Console updates every Friday with new titles from consoles including the SEGA Mega Drive, NES, SNES and NeoGeo.
