Nintendo tops Japanese publisher list for 2010

Nintendo has been ranked as the most successful publisher in Japan this year, with software sales of 12.9 million copies through October, 1UP reports.

The figure comes from gaming blog Oolongtea, which tracks daily game sales in Japan.

Nintendo’s sales are almost three times that of nearest rival Square Enix; the Final Fantasy XIII publisher managed to shift 4.6 million copies.

With titles including Pokemon Black and White, Wii Party and Super Mario Galaxy 2 it’s easy to see why Nintendo is so far ahead. The Pokemon games alone have shifted around four million units.
