Nintendo has revealed that users who cancel their Switch Online membership will have six months to recover their cloud saves.

This will probably come as a relief to many who read Ninty's FAQ following Switch Online's launch, where the format holder said that cloud saves would be deleted once your membership has ended.

However, it's now emerged that you will have 180 days to re-subscribe and reclaim your cloud saves, so it's not all bad news. Once that window has expired though, they'll be gone.

'If a Nintendo Switch Online membership expires, users won’t be able to access their Save Data Cloud backups. However, Nintendo will allow users who re-subscribe within 180 days to access their previous Save Data Cloud backups,' a spokesperson for the Big N confirmed to IGN.

Nintendo Switch Online launched in the US on September 18 and in the UK on September 19. As part of the subscription, members have access to a back catalog of 20 NES titles, including Donkey Kong, Super Mario Bros. 3, and The Legend of Zelda.

Not all Switch games will require you to sign up for the console's online service, with Fortnite being a prime example.
