Nintendo Switch will launch at a price lower than the Wii U did in Japan, reports Japanese publication Nikkei – as translated by Engadget.

The paper expects the Switch to launch at approximately ¥25,000, which is around $215 or £210 including VAT.

However, international pricing is never usually this straightforward, with the ¥26,250 Wii U costing $299 in the US and £250 in the UK. Still, if the Japanese price is accurate, you’d expect the Switch to go on sale for no more than $250/£250.

It’s worth noting that Nikkei’s price prediction is just that, and not information passed on from a source with pricing information.

Expect the actual launch price and release date to be revealed during Nintendo’s Switch broadcast in the early hours of January 13.
