Nintendo of America has filed a lawsuit in an Arizona district court against the creator of websites LoveROMs.com and LoveRETRO.com, TorrentFreak has discovered.

Reportedly operated by Jacob Mathias and Mathias Designs LLC, both websites offer thousands of pirated games that can be played on emulators or completely free online.

Unsurprisingly, a ton of Nintendo titles are distributed from both outlets, with the filing revealing they have been collectively downloaded more than 60 million times. As such, Nintendo is suing for copyright infringement, trademark infringement, and unfair competition, with the lawsuit potentially worth millions of dollars in damages.

Nintendo's efforts seem to be taking effect, as LoveRETRO has already been taken down, while all of the company's games have been removed from LoveROM.

'The LoveROMs and LoveRETRO websites are among the most open and notorious online hubs for pirated video games,' reads the suit, which was filed on July 19.

'Through the LoveROMs and LoveRETRO websites, Defendants reproduce, distribute, publicly perform and display a staggering number of unauthorized copies of Nintendo’s video games, all without Nintendo’s permission. This includes thousands of games developed for nearly every video game system Nintendo has ever produced.'

The console maker is also looking to have complete ownership of the domain names transferred to the company, demanding that both the offending websites are fully dismantled in the process.
