Nintendo announced it has published The Stretchers, a silly and speedy Switch game in which the player must collect dizzy civilians and take them to the hospital (via Eurogamer).
The game is developed by Tarsier, the same studio that created Little Nightmares. Its bright and sunny style is a departure from its standard stuff, but the same could be said of Nintendo. It hardly ever publishes a third-party developer, so it’s super that Tarsier and Nintendo have come together to deliver the silliness of The Stretchers.
Civilians up and down the country are afflicted with the mysterious Dizzies and the illness will strike anywhere and anywhen. Players will race to the scene in their ambulance, which will be upgraded with nitro-boosts, amphibious features, or sails to glide. Once they reach the confused crowds, they must scoop them onto the stretcher, evading lasers and destroying blockades, and head back to the ambulance. This is simpler with a pal on your side, and The Stretchers looks like it will lead to countless silly shenanigans in two-player co-op.
What’s more, there will be treasures hidden in every Rescue Mission that will raise the players’ final score, because that’s what the Hippocratic Oath is all about. The cluster of side missions – involving chopping timber, exploding rocks with fireworks, and hide-and-seek – will unlock custom hats and outfits for the two medics. Their Home Base will also enjoy a bit of TLC with unlockable furniture, like an Arcade Machine that replays missions so that players can find bonus items they missed first time round.
