Nintendo has hit back at video game website Maxconsole after claims of feeding the media with stories to build hype for the Wii were made earlier today. The website picked up on a news story reporting the high price consumers are having to pay to get their hands on a Wii this Christmas, and noticed the same story in two different newspapers.
Maxconsole lead with the headline “Nintendo caught red handed feeding media Wii demand stories”, something Nintendo has strongly denied.
“There is absolutely no truth whatsoever in what they have written, it is totally unsubstantiated and merely rumour they are reporting as fact,” Nintendo told CVG. “We are certainly NOT distributing any press release to feed media with demand stories – we never have.”
What can’t be denied is that the Wii is in very high demand this Christmas and has become difficult for consumers to get their hands on. For advice on how to ensure you’re giving yourself the best chance of securing a Wii this Christmas head over to VideoGamer.com’s newly published guide.
