With many of Nintendo’s Wii releases moving millions of units it’s easy to assume games from third parties aren’t selling well. However, Nintendo says this isn’t the case.
“There is an assumption out there that just simply isn’t true… We’re setting the record straight. This is fact,” Nintendo of America’s VP of Corporate Affairs, Denise Kaigler, told GameDaily. “We are selling third-party games and they are doing very well, and better than our competitors.”
In the US 19 third-party Wii titles have sold over 400,000 units, with several (Guitar Hero III and Mario & Sonic) having reached blockbuster status.
