Speaking to Kikizo, Team Ninja head, Yosuke Hayashi, has revealed that there is life in the Ninja Gaiden series beyond the in development Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 on PS3.

Contradicting comments made by former Team Ninja boss, Tomonobu Itagaki, Hayashi stated that Team Ninja “will continue to work towards a future for the series.”

He added: “What the gamers are looking for is going to be the next chapter – the future of an outstanding series. We feel that we’re in a position of being able to make that call.”

Speaking of platform exclusivity – both Ninja Gaiden and Ninja Gaiden 2 debuted on Xbox platforms before seeing Sigma releases on PS3 – Hayashi suggested that moving forward this will not be the case.

“… we’re going to have to push ourselves to the next level, and we are better off giving both audiences an entirely new game,” said Hayashi.

Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 is currently scheduled for release this autumn only on PS3.
