PlatinumGames’ surprise hit of the year, NieR: Automata, is fleshing out its lore with a book later this Summer.

Announced on the game’s Japanese Twitter account (via Siliconera), the novel will be released on August 5 in Japan, with no word on any worldwide release date, as of yet.

The book is said to give fans a chance to learn more about the characters that appear in the main game. Game director Yoko Taro will be overseeing the project, while Jun Eishima, who has penned some other video games related books previously, is the author.

It’s currently available on Square Enix’s Japanese store if this sounds up your street, and you can read Japanese, obvs.
