Platinum Games' stylish actioner Nier: Automata has eclipsed three million copies shipped across the globe, the game's official Twitter account has said.

The figure accounts for physical and digital copies moved, and is up on the 2.5 million sold back in March.

I'm more excited by the fact the game's director, Yoko Taro, celebrates his 48th birthday today alongside the hero of Nier Replicant. That's just so cool. If I had a cap, this is the part where I'd totally doff it.

Nier: Automata is the creatively-rich sequel to 2010's Nier, and plonks gamers in the middle of an epic ruck between otherwordly machines a rapidly-deteriorating humanity. The action focuses on an android and her canine companion, and splices pulse-pounding combat with witty banter.

Unsurprisingly, we bloody loved it, and you should too.
