Building on the success of NHL 2K7, this year’s NHL 2K8 has been officially announced and 2K Sports is promising a true next-gen ice hockey experience.

2K Sports is promising to take full advantage of the next-gen systems, delivering innovative gameplay, revolutionary player models and stunning visuals to create an “entirely new hockey experience“.

The game will highlight unique player characteristics never before seen in a hockey game and to make the biggest players more recognisable, they will feature branded equipment including skates, sticks, pads and helmets.

NHL 2K8 represents the complete next generation gaming experience and showcases the talent and experience of the development team. NHL 2K8 is an incredibly realistic hockey simulation and we are proud to create such an exciting video game,” said Greg Thomas, President of Visual Concepts, a 2K Sports studio.

NHL 2K8 will be released for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 2 later this year.
