A closed beta test of NHL 16’s EA Sports Hockey League mode will be available on PS4 and Xbox One next week, EA Sports has announced.

The beta will allow existing NHL 15 owners to try out the new game ahead of its September release, and is available to everybody who owns a PS4 or Xbox One copy of last year’s game, along with a select group of Xbox 360 and PS3 users.

The beta will also be available to those who have downloaded NHL 15 through EA Access.

To take part, just load up your Xbox One or PS4 copy of NHL 15 from next Thursday, July 30 and select the option to download the beta. Once the beta is downloaded it can be accessed directly from your console dashboard.

Alternatively, if you own NHL 15 on Xbox 360 or PS3, you’ll need to sign up for email notifications on the EA Sports website and hope that you’re selected. If you’re successful you’ll receive a beta code via your email account.

The beta will come to a close on August 6, with the full game set to launch on September 17.
