The next Mass Effect game, which may or may not be Mass Effect 4, is not expected to be released for around another two years, Mass Effect 3 producer Mike Gamble has told Gamer Syndrome.

The fourth game in the franchise was announced back in November, with development handed to BioWare Montreal using the Frostbite engine.

“You’ll hear more about the new Mass Effect game in 2013,” said Gamble who confirmed it should launch in “late 2014 to mid-2015”.

He added: “I honestly can’t tell you an exact [date] because full development on the game started a month or two ago.”

Given the two-year or longer wait it seems certain the game will be released on next generation platforms.
