The upcoming title in the Harry Potter video game series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II, will not have Kinect functionality.

According to EA producer Gary Napper, has stated that the development team decided early on to “focus on the core of the experience, get as close to the atmosphere of the movie and make the flow of the combat feel right.”

Additionally he stated: “We didn’t want to dilute any of our efforts on other things that would require a lot of the team’s time to perfect.”

Last year, EA Bright Light’s Kinect-enabled Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I received largely negative reviews.

The sequel is set to be released July 12, three days prior to the premiere of the film.

VideoGamer.com’s Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I review awarded the game a middling 5 out of 10.
